This telescope cover provides permanently mounted telescopes and telescopes in storage with a secondary layer of protection from the elements.\u00a0 Even within an observatory there can be a lot of air movement with wind-driven dust, snow and rainy mist blowing through.\u00a0 Scope Baggies are simply large industrial duty plastic bags that function as low cost telescope covers.\u00a0<\/p>

In the semi-protected environment of an observatory the bottom of the baggie remains wide open to allow air circulation and inhibit condensation. \u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s time tested and works wonderfully well.<\/p>

The Scope Baggie is absolutely not intended for outdoor use. \u00a0\u00a0Do not even think about it.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Sun will overheat a bagged telescope and moisture will condense within the baggie.\u00a0 Insulated reflective silver outdoor covers are several times more expensive, more bulky and require careful handling.\u00a0 But if you need a cover for a scope being left outside spend the extra money and get yourself an outdoor cover.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Telescopes are parked pointing vertically to maximize space in a dome and horizontally to clear a roll-off roof and sometimes slewed up at a random angle.\u00a0 Wedge mounting, GEM mounting, piggy back telescopes and off-axis counterweights can significantly impact the size of the telescope cover.\u00a0 So take a tape measure and determine the circumference of your particular setup.\u00a0 How many inches around do you actually need?\u00a0 Allow a few extra inches as it\u2019s slower to place or remove a tight cover.<\/p>

These clear 3 mil industrial strength virgin polyethylene baggies are provided tall so that you may cut off excess at the bottom of the bag to optimize your specific height.<\/p>
